Politicians never accuse you of “greed” for wanting to take other people’s money—only for wanting to keep your own money.

Come Meet With Us

The Concerned Taxpayers of Arlington on Monday, November 13, at 7:00 PM. Many come at 6:30 to visit before the meeting. Non-members are welcome. We are going to have a round table discussion so come and have fun! We meet at The Waterford at Pantego 2650 W Park Row Dr. 817 368-2406.

Our meetings are designed to help us learn, from different viewpoints, what is going on in our government. We operate in a relaxed, casual, and participation oriented style, encouraging debate, questions & answers, and comments from everyone. We believe in honest and accountable government.

The Review

Republicans lost control of the House, and the Senate because they abandoned their conservative principles in the quest to get reelected and to gain more power for the ruling elite. They shot themselves in the foot and screwed over them that brung them to the dance. Until individual Republicans begin looking in the mirror and ask themselves “what’s wrong with me?”, they are never going to fix their problems.

To be sure, conservatism did not lose in this last election, Republicanism did. Republicanism means being a political party first, rather than an ideological movement. This could be a good thing if we learn from it and get back to being Americans for Americans, get our government back to what was intended by the founders.

As conservative Americans we yearn for ideological leadership and we’re not getting it from the undesirables that have made politics their career. Conservatism has practically been lost since the emergence of RINOs — Republicans In Name Only. Conservatives do not cause the government to grow and provide subsidies to those that will line their pockets after the dirty deed is done. RINOs do.

Part of the failure of Republicans to hold on to conservatism is out of fear of being disparaged by the powers that be and/or their “colleagues”. Their creedo is “You wouldn’t believe the pressure they put on me”. I believe it is lack of character and integrity and thus conservatism gets watered down and the RINO’s lose the support of the conservative majority.

Because of their total failure and disregard of their job requirements, virtually every incumbent politician in the U.S. should be replaced. While the liberals nearly always fail the American people, the Republicans have screwed the conservatives who put them in office, AND they have failed the people of this country.

Conservatives have been betrayed by the RINOs. Their interest in supporting Republicans was significantly reduced because they had been abandoned. The only thing today’s Republicans care about is holding onto power, enriching themselves, and enriching 'big business' and lobbyists.

In a recent poll 54% said they thought the government was trying to do too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses. I’m thinking – economic development. Only 37% said they thought the government should do more to solve the country's problems.

If you are a conservative and have worked in the Republican party anytime during the last 25 years you should be extremely, ahem, irritated. We have worked hard to become the party in charge and the politicians screwed it up. The RINO’s have trashed the party of Reagan by initiating policies that the voters have now soundly rejected.

The only way to come back from this disaster is for conservatives to disassociate themselves from the failed big government policies of RINO’s and set a conservative course.

o      Protect the American people.

o      Allow the marketplace to work without government subsidies and meddling.

o      Leave people’s private property alone.

o      Introduce term limits.

o      Eliminate lobbiest.

o      Enforce the law.

o      Open Government.

Then rededicate themselves to conservative principles.

Next, while maintaining conservative principles, work on a bipartisan basis with the other side when possible.

Finally, lose the taint of corruption - Republicans should remember who elected them — the conservative and independent voters, not the elitist.

This election was not a rejection of conservatism. The foundation of conservatism, traditional values and smaller government, are the beliefs of the same voters who threw out the Republicans.

At the same time, grass-roots conservatives should no longer act as an offshoot of the Republican Party. We need to concentrate on becoming an influence in American politics that forces both parties to the Right and setting a conservative agenda. In that regard, we should reach out to the moderate Democrats and Independents.

Continue to please pray for this man....

This man is our President. Whether you agree with him politically or not, he is our President and deserves our support and respect. Right now he needs our help in prayer. This country belongs to all Americans. Pray for America too.

Opine on Mass Transit

Hello Everyone,

I offer this. In theory, mass transit is a wonderful concept but in reality very few people use it. Fort Worth has a mass transit program and a population of about 600,000. Very few people use the mass transit system in Fort Worth. I repeat, very few people ride the bus or train.

I'm sure they operate their mass transportation system, at an annual loss and are dependent on State and Federal grants to maintain the program and / or meet budget. The inflated gas price this year, I'm sure was a burden to us all and more so at the city level. However, I didn't notice a lot of people leaving their cars at home and using the bus. Infact, I don't know a single person that did.  Instead, they paid the higher gas price, maintained their vehicles and continued to do what they have always done, which is not use mass transit. Basically, the gas prices didn't drive them to use the bus so nothing will.

I have used Fort Worth's mass transit. I offer that you plan a trip in Fort Worth or better yet Dallas, park in North Richland Hills and ride the train into downtown, transfer to the bus system, to get to your destination.

After using their system, you will understand why people prefer private transportation, to mass transportation.

Often, trip times are increased, it can take much longer to arrive at your destination, you are waiting in inclement conditions to transfer between busses, the bus schedule never seems to fit your appointed departure or arrival, you have to pre-arrange your return trip and don't miss the bus because the lay over can be a long and lonely wait.

Basically, everything you dislike about air travel, imagine it out doors and on the street corner smelling smog, enduring the weather and wondering if you are standing on the right corner, to catch the right bus to get you back to where you belong.

Also, I'm not up for a discussion about this and I just wanted to share my experience.

Transportation - I think something will have to happen because of that stadium. If it is such a great thing, that so many people will use, then they should finance it with revenue bonds, and leave my tax dollars alone.

But What About Illegal Immigration?

Let's say I break into your house...

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!!  It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the U.S. might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.  But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do.  I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself.  I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!!  I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker.  Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?!

Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????

Think about it! All we have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS?

I celebrate Christmas...........but because it isn't celebrated by everyone...........we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings.

It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?

We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it
seems that no one has a problem with that.
This says it all! This is an editorial written by an
American citizen.

IMMIGRANTS,
NOT AMERICANS,
MUST ADAPT.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge
in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct!" crowd began complaining about
the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants
of immigrants.
However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans...... we have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish t o become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles............. founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home........because

God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move
to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did
things where you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY,
our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so!
But once you are done complaining...... whining..... and griping....... about our flag....... our pledge..... our national motto........or our way of life I highly encourage you to
take advantage of one other Great American Freedom......

THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

It is Time for America to Speak up

If you don't agree -- You are in the WRONG Country!

Subject: My New Car
I bought a new 2006 Cadillac and returned to the dealer the next day complaining that I couldn't figure out how the radio worked. The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated.
"Watch this!", he said, "Nelson"
The Radio replied, "Ricky or Willie?"
Willie", He continued and "On The Road Again" came from the speakers.
Then he said, "Ray Charles", and in an instant " Georgia
On My Mind" replaced Willie Nelson.
I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time I'd say, "Beethoven," I'd get beautiful classical music, and if I said, "Beatles," I'd get one of their awesome songs.
Yesterday, a couple ran a red light and nearly creamed my new car, but I swerved in time to avoid them. I yelled, "Ass Ho--s"
Immediately the French National Anthem began to play, sung by Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand, backed up by Michael Moore and The Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica, Barbara Pelosi on tambourine, Harry Reid on spoons, Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy on scotch.
I LOVE this car!

Subject: Mayor Should Protect Us From Arlington Terrorist Group
Dear Editor:
I feel safer now after reading the Sept 8th article about the need to keep
secret plans for the stadium for "Homeland Security" reasons.   Thank
goodness we have Mayor Cluck to protect us from our local terrorist groups requesting to see plans for the stadium.  We can all rest assured that our Mayor is standing watch of our financial and safety interests.  Mr. Cluck has such a sterling credentials and track record in private business management.
Maybe I can collect the reward for sharing additional information about
this terrorist group that has secret meetings at Coker BBQ once or twice a month.  Could I get a reward for identifying the dozen or so regular
members that fit the profile of Arlington Terrorists -- Female, minimum
average 65 and all with records, voting record that is.
Again, thank you Mr. Mayor for protecting us from this local terrorist
group aka Concern Taxpayers of Arlington.
Respectfully Submitted, Ward Hansen

Subject: Councilman Dies

While walking down the street one day a City Councilman is tragically hit by a truck and dies.
His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.
"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."
"No problem, just let me in," says the man.
"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."
"Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the City Councilman.
"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."
And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.
Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...
The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven."
So, 24 hours pass with the City Councilman joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.
"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."
The City Councilman reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."
So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.
The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the City Councilman. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"
The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning...... Today you voted."

Subject: Let's Say Thanks

This is such a great thing!  Please take the time to send a card!!!

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!! This is a great site. Please send a card. It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these? Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them...

Today, when a concerted effort is made to obliterate this point, it cannot be repeated too often that the Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals—that it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government—that it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen’s protection against the government. Well, that makes sense

Measure This!

In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England 's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview.

When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said:
"A simple way to take measure of a country is to
look at how many want in .. And how many want out"

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1. Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom. Many seem to forget BOTH of them.

There are a lot of immigrants that had enough pride and self esteem to come to this country legally and earn their place here.  This is not a smear or any slander toward them. We work very hard for our money and it is ridiculous to think that someone who isn’t even legal here can come in and demand to be supported and cared for by the citizens and legal immigrants that work and pay taxes. I don’t know if this is the solution or not, but it is a good point…….

PRESIDENTS HOOVER & EISENHOWER DEPORTED MILLIONS OF ILLEGALS SO AMERICANS HAD WORK!

I did not know of this until it was pointed out to me. Back during the great depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of all illegal aliens in order to make the jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.
And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 1.3 million Mexican nationals (called operation "Wetback") in order that returning American WWII and Korean veterans had a better chance at jobs.
It took 2 years, but they deported them.  If they could deport the illegals back then, they can sure do it today!!
If you have doubts about the veracity of this information, just type Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.
Don't forget to pay your taxes.....
12 million illegal aliens are depending on you!

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

URGENT  PRAYER REQUEST FOR CHAD FIELD In Iraq Please don't break this prayer chain. My son has been shot in Falujah. I wanted to get everyone to pray for my son Chad. Today Sunday, I got a call from the Army that my son had been shot in the head. I am asking for all
your prayers. He was in a Humvee going through Falujah fighting and a gang of militia fighters fired o n the Humvee and hit Chad in the head. The driver got him out of the city and took him to Baghdad. He was in fatal condition, but now has been upgraded to stable critical. His dad and I are on standby to fly to Washington then on to Germany as soon as the military calls us to go. The Army is trying to stabilize him enough to fly to Germany and at that time we will leave. Please pray that my son will not have brain damage and that he will be restored and healed by the blood of Jesus, and the grace of God. I ask for you to pass this prayer request on so there will be many prayer warriors praying for him. Thank you so much and I will try to keep you updated on his condition.

God Bless,
Vicky Field
Granbury, Texas

Please pray for this young soldier and please pass this request along to those who will pray for him. Carry each others burdens and in this way you will fulfill the Law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 NIV

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it
ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.
Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. In Jesus' name, we
pray, Amen!"
